Joyce Iwashita is an educator and retired principal who has taught children in New Jersey and on the islands of Hawai‘i, O‘ahu, Maui and Moloka‘i. For many years she was also a school administrator in Hawai‘i and was the recipient of the 2011 National Distinguished Principal Award, and 2014 University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Distinguished Alumni Award.
Kelson Gallano is a member of the Ka’u High School class of 2022. He draws inspiration from the small town of Pahala where he lives and wants his artwork to represent the special place that he’s from and where he’s grateful to live.
